Is my home bank debt card the same as a international credit card?

Im going on vacation to Mexico this summer, And I was told that I had to have a credit card down at the border. This will be my first time going there. My husband will be driving. Neither of us has or ever had a credit card in our life.

Congratulations, if you have managed without a credit card all your life dont get one ever. It will ruin you but now to answer your question, I would call your local bank or go to thier website and ask if they have ATM%26#039;s available at your vacation spot.

Most Debit Cards will work at other bank%26#039;s machines but of course they charge addtional fees when you do a withdrawl, otherwise to be safe just get some travelers cheques.

1. Check with your financial institution that you got your card from. Tell them you%26#039;re going on vacation to Mexico, and will their card work there? (If your card has a Visa/Mastercard logo on it, it will be accepted, worldwide, wherever the logo is present)

2. Check with the hotel(s) where you%26#039;re staying. Find out what cards are/are not accepted, or if travellers cheques are recommended.
