Should I take out a loan or go into debt with a credit card. I%26#039;m joing the army but I%26#039;ll need to spend at least $1500 before I leave for training and I only have $200. Plus, I%26#039;m unemlployed. I%26#039;m in high school but I also do night school at a college, so, I can say that I%26#039;m a freshman. I%26#039;m planning to go on active-duty, so, I%26#039;ll be doing school with the military. Can I get away with taking out a loan and would i have to make any payments while I%26#039;m in training and/or active duty? What would happen if I went into debt with a credit card and didn%26#039;t make any payments until I came back, either after training or active duty?

If you really need the money, take out a loan now, and then after basic training and you are assigned a base, refinance the loan with your base%26#039;s Army Credit Union. They will assume the debt and give you a new payment plan with a much lower interest rate.

Just make sure to make your payments on time before you switch the debt over.

While in the military the only way you wont have to make payments on your credit card is if you were deployed and then you would have to start making payments again as soon as you returned from your deployment if you chose not to py your bills while on active duty you could be punished wages garnished or even kicked out people in the military have to pay bills just like everyone else
