I assume that you are still paying on your debt and that this is only a problem because you are going to prison....if this is the case, I think I would WRITE the letters now but I dont think I would send them...what if you dont actually have to go to prison....then you will have to spend mroe time undoing this...if you have someone you trust, maybe they can send those letters in for you.

aLSO IF THE debt is for a car, maybe you can return the car and reduce the debt some

There really isn%26#039;t much you can do. If you live in the USA the new bankruptcy laws won%26#039;t undo your credit card debt, but it will allow you a way to pay them off. Of course, that doesn%26#039;t include being in prison where you won%26#039;t be making enough money to pay off your debts. Good luck. Next time, don%26#039;t break the law.

you can still file for bankruptcy even with the changes .. just go to google.com and type in legalhelpers and it will give you all the information you need about that...... If you don%26#039;t pay it then the bills will be past statue of limitations when you get out anyway... You can write to the creditor and tell them and ask them not to call you or your family members and they must abide by your wishes. You have the FDCPA law on your side and good luck in prison and be good so you can make parole alot faster. 2 or 3 years won%26#039;t be the end of the world and you can get out and create a whole new history with your future life ahead after prison. hang in there and ask God to help u

Call and write to let your creditors know your situation.

Also freeze your credit (by calling the credit reporting companies Experian, Equifax, %26amp; Transunion) which will prevent anyone from opening credit accounts using your information while you are away.
